Install the Instoryview Skill

Let a compatible assistant use the logged-in CLI or connected MCP tools.

Install one Skill

Download the Instoryview Skill. Extract its instoryview folder, which contains SKILL.md, into either ~/.agents/skills/instoryview (your user skills) or .agents/skills/instoryview in a project. Compare an existing copy before replacing your own changes.

Refresh or restart your compatible Skill host if necessary. Confirm Instoryview appears in the Skill list. The Skill does not contain credentials or install the CLI automatically.

Connect your account

For local terminal access, install the CLI and run instoryview auth login. A host that already has an authenticated Instoryview MCP connection can use those tools instead. Never paste your Key into a conversation or SKILL.md.

Ask a question

In a Codex conversation, use $instoryview and ask “List my tracked accounts” or “Show alice's last available followers.” The $instoryview phrase is conversation text, not a shell command.

Existing-data reads are the default. To authorize an online query, specify the target, list type and budget, for example: “Query bob's public followers online, at most 2 credits.” Each further paid page requires an explicit request.

How answers are presented

The Skill explains when the data was observed, its source and whether it is partial. It distinguishes profile totals from observed list members and detected changes. Missing data never silently becomes a paid query.

Update by installing a new release. Removing the Skill folder does not revoke a Key or disconnect an MCP grant; manage those separately in Developer settings.
