ChatGPT, Codex and MCP

Connect through authenticated MCP; Plugin distribution is a preview.

Connect Instoryview

Instoryview's remote MCP endpoint is https://instoryview.com/mcp. In a compatible client's connector or MCP settings, add that URL and choose OAuth. Sign in on Instoryview's own authorization page and review the requested permissions.

The default data:read permission covers your readable account details, follower and following members, and detected changes. Online queries need the optional data:fetch permission and a per-request spending cap. All connections share the daily API budget in Developer settings.

OAuth requires a compatible host and workspace policy. Installing a bundle and connecting your account are separate steps. Never send your Key or password in a chat.

Plugin preview

Download the Plugin preview bundle for a host that supports local Plugin installation. It includes the same Instoryview Skill and remote MCP configuration. Extract the ZIP, then register its marketplace root with codex plugin marketplace add /absolute/path/to/instoryview-plugin. In the Codex desktop Plugins browser, choose Instoryview Preview, install and connect through OAuth. Refresh or restart if necessary; support depends on your client and workspace policy.

The public Plugin Directory listing is not yet available. This page does not represent a completed store review. If your host does not support importing the bundle, use its remote MCP setup or the standalone Skill with the CLI.

Ask naturally

  • “Which accounts am I tracking?”
  • “Show alice's last available followers.”
  • “What changes did you detect for alice in the last seven days?”
  • “Query bob's public followers online, at most 2 credits.”

Stored reads do not start a new scan. Fresh queries require explicit scope and budget. The assistant explains timestamps, costs and partial coverage rather than claiming a complete list.

Six MCP tools

list_tracking, get_account, list_followers, list_following and get_account_changes read existing data. query_public_account makes an explicitly budgeted online query. Its idempotencyKey is mandatory and must be preserved for recovery.

Revoke access

Use Developer settings to revoke an Instoryview connection. Removing a Plugin from a host does not necessarily revoke its independently authorized connection. An invalid or revoked token cannot recover private data or continue pagination.
