Look at followers on Instagram without being seen
When people use an Instagram follower viewer, the first worry is whether the account will know. Here, your lookup is anonymous: the account you look up has no way to tell. We don't use your Instagram account to read anything, so there's no visit under your name for them to spot.

Why does the Instagram followers list look random?
Open any Instagram follower viewer, or Instagram itself, and you expect the newest people at the top. They aren't there. Instagram orders lists with its own logic, which isn't public, and the order can change between visits. At best it's roughly newest first, never exactly.

Only your own Following list can be sorted by date. Nobody else's list can, and neither can your own followers.
So how do you see recent followers? Not from one look. You compare two readings taken at different times, which is what the Instagram follower tracker does. It only ever says “detected”, because Instagram never gives follow times.
Why does an Instagram followers viewer show fewer people than the count?
You see “463 followers”, you scroll, and you reach 462. That's not your connection, and it's not an Instagram followers viewer losing people at random. In the lists we tested:

Sometimes a list is just incomplete for a few hours. One we watched was 28 people short three times in 43 minutes, then complete again 17 hours later.

Can you see a private Instagram account's followers?
No. Only approved followers can see a private account's list, and no Instagram follower viewer can open it. Search around and you'll find “private account viewer” sites. People in Quora threads on this keep warning against them, and no legitimate tool can unlock a private list.

Compare the count with the list. A gap of a few people is normal. A big gap on a verified account is Instagram's cap, not a fake audience.

Look for patterns, not single names. Lots of empty profiles or the same bio says something. One odd account doesn't.
